Filled the void left by Dungeon Crawler Carl
After catching up with DCC I am on a mission to read everything else by Matt Dinniman and while this story is incredibly different, I think the writing quality is still just as good. I dont think everyone who likes DCC will like KBS, but if you can stomach gore and a bunch of gross ****, ABSOLUTELY check it out. This main character is very different than Carl and the places this story goes are even darker than DCC, but this just goes to show how versatile Dinniman can be as an author. This and Operation Bounce House have had really unique and great commentary and messaging and in this case the story does have a justified reason for going the places it does unlike some of the edgy tortute porn slop films/books. The last 3 hours or so of this book had me just sitting on my deck and vibing not multitasking as the twists and turns were so wild I couldn't even multitask. This production may have been more pricey than an Audible book, but I think it is incredibly fair for what you get. This is like 20 hours of immersive audio with original music/sfx and a full cast, so if you're hesitant to pay extra, you won't regret it. Super happy to support a small, independent team rather than a mega company and am excited to check out more Soundbooth immersive productions even if the writing doesn't reach the highs this story did, I don't mind, I LOVE the immersion.
