When Aeron gets kicked out of the Wyvern Knight Corps for his addiction to painkilling magic mushrooms, he is forced to leave Wafer, his bonded battle wyvern, behind.

But Aeron's former commander, Larcas Brove, is holding a grudge, and he works to stop Aeron and Wafer from reuniting at every turn.

With no money, a dead-end job, and a hopeless future, Aeron decides to rescue Wafer from Brove's clutches - even if it means risking his life.
