Synopsis
Joe Mulligan is looking for love, companionship, and romance… and that’s what the brochure said he was getting. Unfortunately, The Cult of the Gazing Star has no such thing planned for him. They had to lure a willing sacrifice in somehow, and as has always been the case, those looking for love, companionship, and romance are plentiful. So, having hooked the perfect, gullible, and hopelessly clueless candidate, these fanatics will finally summon the subject of their worship: a terrible being from beyond the veil of reality called Mag’rathlak the Observer. And although this devious cult had no intention of finding Joe a worthy companion, he may have found one all the same…

Difficult to love, impossible to Hate
There are many aspects one could criticize about this series. A tell don't show attitude, a mixed bag of worldbuilding, poor prose, status quo inflexibility, and a particular scene that nearly made me drop it. But between the stellar performance and the simply wonderful straight forward chemistry between the engaging characters that kept me hitting next episode... I can't say it's not worth listen.

Rarely can I say I completely satiated by a story such as I have by this. Not since Douglas Adams have I heard the delicate weaving of the absurd and metaphysical blended with meticulous wit and humor. Even though the ending has you wanting to hear more of the story, its conclusion is so satisfying that you can both lunderstand and appreciate that it has come to a close. As I titled my review, how this story starts, progresses and ultimately ends is an example of a masterwork in the art of storytelling.

A Fun Listen
This is another series I grabbed during the sale earlier this year and I'm SO glad I pulled the trigger! It was light-hearted with an air of menace (great sound-work) while being something that pulled my attention. This is just the start for me and I can't wait to continue the rest of this series!

A setup for a Dolt X Cosmic horror
This is a fun premise of a simple dolt accidentally forming a pact where a Eldritch Horror becomes his girlfriend. That idea alone sounds funny. Plus the descriptions were fun and enjoyable which made it a joy to listen too
I might check out the rest of the series.

Super fun story with a great production
A good story can be made great with a great narrator. When you take a really good story and pair it with AMAZING narration and sound design it's truly magical.
This is the highest praise I can give to an audio story: I listened at 1x speed! I normally listen at 1.5-2x, but I really wanted to enjoy the narration and sound design. Just amazing!

I don't know what I was expecting, but I am blown away by the quality of the voices, effects, and ambiance. I can't wait to see where the story goes with these characters.
