The Blood of an Englishman
Synopsis
In this delightful mystery from New York Times bestselling author M. C. Beaton, Agatha Raisin finds herself investigating a murder that takes place in the most unlikely of settings—a village pantomime.
Although Agatha has little patience for amateur dramatics, her friend Mrs. Bloxby, the vicar’s wife, persuades her to attend a local production of Babes in the Woods. Bored by the performance, Agatha watches as the village baker, cast as the ogre, stomps across the stage delivering his lines.
Then a trapdoor opens.
A scream follows.
And suddenly the performance comes to a horrifying halt.
What first appears to be part of the show quickly proves to be murder. When the popular baker is found dead, Agatha and her team of private investigators begin searching for answers.
Their investigation uncovers a surprising amount of rivalry, resentment, and backstage drama among the cast and crew. As tensions rise and the suspect list grows, Agatha’s team finds itself getting dangerously close to the truth—and to the killer.
To solve the case, Agatha must navigate a world where make-believe and murder have become dangerously intertwined.
