Dead on Target
Synopsis
Beloved New York Times bestselling author M. C. Beaton’s cranky and crafty Agatha Raisin is back with another murder mystery.
What begins as a pleasant day at a local village fete quickly turns into a nightmare when Agatha discovers the body of a wealthy landowner in the woods. The victim has an arrow lodged in his chest and is found in circumstances that raise more than a few uncomfortable questions.
Detective Chief Inspector Wilkes initially dismisses the death as a tragic accident, believing the man was struck by a stray arrow during an archery demonstration at the fair. Agatha, however, is convinced that the evidence points to murder.
Her suspicions seem validated when Wilkes changes his mind and agrees that the death was no accident. Unfortunately, he also decides that Agatha herself is the prime suspect.
Determined to clear her name, Agatha launches her own investigation. Her search for the truth leads her into the middle of a bitter family feud, dangerous criminal connections, and a growing list of people with motives for murder.
As she gets closer to uncovering the killer, Agatha realizes that someone is willing to do whatever it takes to keep their secrets hidden—including making her the next victim.
